Milk Thistle Milk thistle is a plant that is also known as Silybum marianum . The active ingredients in milk thistle are a lipophilic extract from the seeds of the plant and are made up of three isomeric flavonolignans (silybin, silydianin, and silychristin) collectively known as silymarin (see Reference 3 ). Milk thistle has several "pending" health claims:

More specifically, it is the active compounds found in this plant that come into play in terms of liver health. A review was interested in this subject and the following conclusion was issued:

"Through the analysis of the literature, it has been shown that silymarin has an effect that allows its use in all the most frequent causes of liver damage"
