Rich in fiber
Oats are a food rich in fiber, these latter being chiefly contained in the outer layers of the seed. Rolled oats contain 11g of fiber per 100g. The role of fiber is to contribute to normal bowel function. Note that the oat beta glucan contained in the seed has a positive effect on the increase in blood sugar after meals and on cholesterol levels scientifically proven.
The role of beta-glucan in the oat flakes:
• Beta-glucans contribute to the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels
• Consumption of beta-glucans from oats or barley on the occasion of 'a meal helps to moderate the rise in blood sugar after that meal
