What is it?

The Fat Burner® from Swanson ® is a dietary supplement designed to promote weight loss.

It is composed of a Chromium complex in picolinate form ChroMax® and an extract of Garcinia cambodgia CitriMax®.

Composition

Chromium Chromax®

Chromax®, is chromium in the form of chromium picolinate. Picolinates are organic salts. Picolinic acid is a substance known by our body because it is able to synthesize it (present in breast milk). It is a privileged carrier recognized by our cells for the good assimilation of chromium salts.

Chromax® is different from other forms of chromium because of its stable chemical structure and superior assimilation form. Plus it's backed by 35 US patents and is Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for use in food and beverage products.

35 human clinical studies have been performed using Chromax®. One (Kaats et al, 1998) showed that supplementation with chromium Chromax® for 90 days reduced body weight ( -6.3 pounds) and body fat (-6 pounds). A second study (Docherty et al, 2016) showed that supplementation with Chromax® reduced sugar cravings and sugar cravings by 2-fold. 1.8 times the appetite compared to a placebo. Finally, a third study (Anton et al, 2008) was carried out and investigated the reduction in calorie intake with daily chromium supplementation. The study revealed that the group supplemented with Chromax® saw their caloric intake decrease by 374 calories compared to the placebo group which had a decrease of approximately 150 calories.

Garcinia cambogia Super CitriMax®

Super CitriMax® helps weight loss through 2 main mechanisms.

Secondly, HCA causes a decreased appetite by increasing levels of serotonin, a hormone capable of regulating appetite. In addition, it also helps to decrease leptin, and it has been shown that leptin levels are low in people with a healthy BMI.

NB: These mechanisms have been studied in animals. Their effectiveness in humans is still disputed.
