It exists in two forms: The natural R form and the synthetic S form.

Alpha lipoic acid exists in two forms called enantiomers: the R form and the S form. R-alpha lipoic acid is the only form that occurs naturally in the body.

R alpha lipoic acid is available in its sodium salt form, a very stable form, much more active, as well as better absorbed. It comes from a patented process which has made it possible to isolate it specifically in order to have a pure product.

It is a powerful antioxidant capable of neutralizing several types of free radicals, because alpha lipoic acid is soluble in water (water-soluble) and in fats (fat-soluble).
