What is it?

Milk thistle is a plant that is also known as Silybum marianum. The active ingredients in milk thistle are a lipophilic extract from the seeds of the plant and are composed of three isomeric flavonolignans (silybin, silydianin and silychristin) collectively known as silymarin (see reference 1). Milk Thistle has several "pending" health claims:

More specifically, these are the active compounds found in this plant that come into play in terms of liver health. A review was interested in this subject and the following conclusion was issued:

"Through the analysis of the literature, it has been shown that silymarin has an effect that allows its use in all the most common causes of liver damage” (reference)

Unfortunately, current regulations do not allow us to communicate more about the activities of silymarin. Indeed, this would fall under the scope of therapeutic claims, which is prohibited. Other ingredients: rice flour, gelatin, magnesium stearate, silica.

Dosage: Take 2 capsules two to three times daily with water.
