Product Description

What is it?

Iron Ferrochel® from Reflex Nutrition® is a food supplement of iron in chelated form. Reflex Nutrition uses the raw material from Albion Minerals® which offers chelated iron in the form of bisglycinate via a patented process, which allows better bioavailability, better stability (no digestive disorders) and ionically neutral (no interactions with other nutrients).

In addition, Ferrochel® is part of Albion Minerals' TRAACS® range, a patented identification technology that helps ensure the unique presence of ferrous ion 100% chelated with glycine in the complement.

CompositionTrait or

The iron food supplement offered by Reflex nutrition® is only composed of iron in chelated form.

Reflex Nutrition® has chosen to use raw material from Albion Minerals®. Indeed, Ferrochel® is an iron supplement in the form of ferrous bisglycinate chelate. This form of iron means that the mineral iron is, here, linked to 2 molecules of glycine, a non-essential amino acid thanks to a patented chelation process (called key-lay-shun) developed by the company Albion Minerals® .

Ferrochel® stands out from other iron supplements for 5 main reasons:

1) Its absorption has been improved thanks to a patented process that binds iron to two glycine molecules to stabilize it and increase its solubility.

2) The chelation process ensures an ionically neutral molecule that does not dissolve in the stomach, does not react with other nutrients and which is transported intact in the intestine.

3) Part of the TRAACS® range, a patented identification technique that helps ensure the unique presence of stable chelated ions in complement.

4) Ferrochel® has been studied in numerous clinical studies worldwide ("relative efficacy of Ferrochel® compared to iron sulphate in the control iron deficiency in pregnant women" - "effect of Ferrochel® in the treatment of mild iron deficiency anemia induced by chemotherapy in comparison with iron sulfate" - comparison of the effect of Ferrochel® and a standard ferrous sulphate supplement" - "Toxicology study comparing the safety of Ferrochel® versus ferrous sulphate").

5) Ferrochel® has several technical patents.

Learn more about iron.

Why is iron important?

Iron is a paradoxical element because it is essential to all life on earth but can be potentially dangerous if is provided in excess (production of free radicals). Indeed, there is no way to eliminate the iron absorbed in excess, only a fine regulation of its absorption makes it possible to avoid overloads.

It is present in two forms: heme iron and non-heme iron. The functional difference between these two forms is that heme iron is that contained in red blood cells while non-heme iron is transport and "reserve" iron.

In the body it plays several roles such as:

➻ Iron contributes to normal cognitive function➻ Iron contributes to normal energy metabolism

➻ Iron contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin

➻ Iron contributes to the normal transport of oxygen in the body

➻ Iron contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system

➻ Iron contributes to reduce fatigue

➻ Iron plays a role in the process of cell division cellular

Transport and storage age of oxygen in the body :

Iron is a constituent of hemoglobin contained in red blood cells which carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body . It is therefore an essential factor in “erythropoiesis” (synthesis of red blood cells). It is also contained in myoglobin which transports and allows the storage of oxygen in the muscles.

Enzymatic cofactor :

iron is necessary for the manufacture of enzymes involved in the reactions of DNA synthesis or certain neurotransmitters (dopamine, adrenaline ) and in cellular respiration

Manufacture of ATP :

Iron plays a major role in energy metabolism, in particular through its role in the synthesis of ATP (molecule of 'energy). In a state of deficiency, it is not uncommon to suffer from chronic fatigue. Iron therefore helps to reduce fatigue.

Supports cognitive functions:

Iron promotes the development of brain cells that produce myelin (compound that surrounds the fibers nerves and which allows the nervous message to pass more quickly). In addition, the brain is an organ very rich in iron and we know that certain areas of the brain (cortex, hippocampus) are very sensitive to iron deficiency.

Why are we often deficient?

Iron metabolism takes place "in a closed circuit", i.e. the body is particularly iron saving. Indeed, there is a permanent renewal of the iron present in the body: the iron used for the synthesis of red blood cells is recovered after the destruction of the latter and then reused. The quantity of iron eliminated is very low but since it is a closed circuit, this quantity eliminated must imperatively be replaced by an external contribution via the diet. Thus, in the event of non-compensation for these losses, there is a risk of deficiencies. There are three circumstances in which deficiencies can occur:

  • Insufficient intake (or poor absorption) (vegetarianism/veganism, diet without red meat, etc.)
  • Increased losses (bleeding, menstruation (especially in those with an intrauterine device), blood donation, etc.
  • Increased needs (pregnancy, breastfeeding, growth)

Iron deficiency can manifest itself in many ways. The main symptoms are: extreme fatigue (due to limitation of oxygen transport to cells and ATP synthesis), pale complexion, feeling cold , shortness of breath, etc. Other symptoms may also be associated with iron deficiency such as a decrease in intellectual abilities (concentration, learning…), a deficiency in the immune system (hypersensitivity to infections) …

Supplementation:

If necessary (which is almost the case for everyone), supplementation can be bet. It is highly recommended during menstruation in women to counterbalance the significant losses during this period.

It is often recommended to consume iron supplements between meals (when the stomach is still empty) to limit interactions with other components of the meal .

Nutritional InformationTrait or

In a two-piece gelatin (bovine) capsule: bulking agents (maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose), iron bisglycinate TM (Ferrochel®), anti-caking agents (calcium silicate, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide).

Advice for use: Take 1 capsule per day (14 mg of iron = VNR *)

Warnings: Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of the reach of children. This is a dietary supplement and should be used in conjunction with a balanced diet. Do not consume with tea or coffee. People suffering from diseases such as hemochromatosis, polycythemia or any other condition that causes the abnormal accumulation of the trace element in the body should never supplement with iron.
