Product Description

What is it?

Magnesium Bisglycinate from Albion Minerals® is a magnesium supplement in a highly chelated form bioavailable and without side effects. The chelated form of magnesium with glycine molecules allows better absorption of the mineral in the intestinal wall and sans causing digestive disorders unlike other forms of magnesium (citrate, oxide, marine. ).

Albion Minerals® guarantees the quality of its magnesium using its patented (TRAACS®) test which assures consumers that it is indeed a 100% chelated form of magnesium and not a mixture of other forms.

Composition

Magnesium Bisglycinate from Albion® laboratories and distributed by Swanson Nutrition® is only composed of magnesium in chelated form. This form of magnesium means that the magnesium ion is, here, linked to 2 molecules of glycine, a non-essential amino acid. Albion Minerals® uses a patented chelation process (called key-lay-shun) to manufacture its chelated minerals.

This system (chelation) makes it possible to copy the process of binding minerals to amino acids which takes place in the stomach during digestion in order to form small molecules of chelated magnesium which pass more easily through the stomach. intestinal wall thanks to the affinity of the intestine for the absorption of amino acids.

The chelated forms have very good bioavailability and do not show side effects unlike the other forms (citrate, oxide, marine. ) These are forms that are better tolerated by the body and do not cause laxative effects, diarrhea, etc. A study has also shown that the bisglycinate form of magnesium is absorbed unchanged in the intestine by another transport route that still exists in patients who have undergone ileal resection. Indeed, this chelated form has its own absorption process in the body. There is an active uptake process of peptide chelates which therefore utilizes glycine when magnesium is chelated to it. This is a particularly efficient absorption process when it comes to magnesium.

In addition, magnesium bisglycinate from Albion Minerals® is part of the range of products tested by a patented method called TRAACS® to prove the true presence of a chelated form in complement. To date, Albion Minerals® is the only manufacturer of chelates to provide identification methods (TRAACS® FT-IR) for its products which ensure the consumer the unique presence of a stable chelated form for its minerals.

Why is it so important?

Magnesium (Mg) is a major mineral present at 20-28g in the human body, mainly in the skeleton then in the muscle tissue and finally in the other cells. It should be noted that most Mg is present intracellularly, which means that the level of plasma Mg (present in the blood) is not representative of the Mg status of the body (in other words, do not rely on blood tests to define whether or not you are deficient).

Mg plays very important roles in the body:

Catalytic function: Mg is the cofactor of nearly 300 enzymatic reactions (in synergy with B vitamins) distributed over 3 key areas of metabolism namely: energy production and storage, synthesis reactions (protein and hormonal synthesis ) and DNA transcription.

Neuromuscular and nerve function: Mg has an action on the regulation of transmission of nerve impulses, muscle contraction and heart rate. On the nervous system, Mg globally has a sedative action by counterbalancing with the excitatory effects of calcium. On the cardiovascular system, Mg regulates contractile automatism and reduces tension. On smooth muscle, a lack of Mg can contribute to various disorders such as: spasmophilia, menstrual pain, migraine and hypertension.

Structural function: As said before, Mg is present in bones and enamel, in much smaller quantities than calcium and phosphates, but its qualitative presence is essential to homeostasis (balance) bone . A deficit can also lead to non-optimal bone development and promote osteoporosis and the appearance of cavities.

Immune function: Mg promotes phagocytosis (elimination of pathogens by immune cells) and proliferation of key cells immunity: lymphocytes. In addition, it decreases the inflammatory reaction by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory molecules.

Magnesium has several health claims recognized by the European Commission:

➪ Magnesium helps reduce fatigue

➪ Magnesium helps electrolyte balance

➪ Magnesium contributes to normal energy metabolism

➪ Magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system

➪ Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function

➪ Magnesium contributes to normal protein synthesis

➪ Magnesium contributes to normal psychological functions

➪ Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones

➪ Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth

➪ Magnesium plays a role in the process of cell division

Why should we supplement?

Mg deficiency is one of the most commonly encountered, even in industrialized countries (in France about 75% of the population n is below the nutrient intake). This can be explained primarily by the fact that Mg is very poorly absorbed by the body. This can also be explained by insufficient consumption of raw foods in favor of foods that contain less Mg. Moreover, as said before, foods high in Mg are also high in calories. However, the current generation is increasingly concerned about their weight, which has the effect of reducing daily intake by selecting low-calorie foods (and therefore low in Mg). Our current lifestyle is also harmful for our Mg resources since alcohol, tobacco and stress are factors leading to the elimination of Mg through the urine.

Finally, one of the major problems of Mg deficiency is ignorance. Indeed, as said at the beginning of this article, the main storage of this mineral is in the bones, muscles and nerve cells. Thus, the quantity of blood Mg is low and in no way represents the body's Mg reserve. Mg deficiencies are therefore not easily quantifiable and detectable.

It is for all these reasons that it is very likely that you are under intake of Mg and that supplementation can only be favorable to your health

Nutritional information

Each capsule contains: buffered magnesium bisglycinate (magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium oxide, citric acid), hard gelatin capsule (bovine gelatin), bulking agent (maltodextrin), anti-caking agents (stearate magnesium, silicon dioxide).

Dosage: Take 3 capsules daily with food.

WARNINGS: Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not be used as substitutes for a varied diet. A varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important. Keep out of reach of children under three years old. Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature.

The opinion of our professionals
Advice of the nutrition expert
@isabelle_fit_ "Magnesium is the all-purpose mineral! It is present in absolutely all enzymatic reactions (or almost!). Which is also worrying when we know that 77% of French people are deficient in magnesium (according to the study SU. VI. MAX 2007). Magnesium is for me, the essential dietary supplement in our current society. It reduces the symptoms of stress and chronic fatigue, too often present in our modern overconnected and pressured populations. Nevertheless, many forms of magnesium exist and few are actually effective or problem-free. Indeed, magnesium is a mineral with very low bioavailability which undergoes a lot of losses during absorption. In addition, some forms cause bloating, digestive disorders or flatulence when taken regularly. The bisglycinate form is one of the most bioavailable forms and above all which is perfectly tolerated by the body. The Albion Minerals quality makes it possible to ensure on the one hand that the magnesium is a form chelated with glycine but above all that it is indeed a 100% chelated form and not a mixture. It is therefore a very good magnesium supplement that is rare to find on the market or in pharmacies today. "

Opinion from a coach

@fitnessbreak

" Magnesium is arguably the most important mineral in the body. Magnesium deficiency is one of the most common deficiencies in our modern society. It is good to remember that magnesium is involved in all the physiological functions of the body and that a deficiency of the latter can cause health problems. If we had to choose ONE supplement among those that already exist, magnesium would undoubtedly be the preferred supplement"
