Product Description

What is it?

Beta-alanine (β-Alanine) is a non-essential amino acid since it is synthesized by our organism (by the liver). This amino acid is not proteinogenic, that is, it is not incorporated into proteins during the RNA translation process. Furthermore, it is not involved in protein biosynthesis.

In contrast, β-Alanine is the component of certain peptides (chains of amino acids) such as carnosine, by binding to the amino acid histidine. The levels of β-Alanine determine the concentration of carnosine in the body, it is therefore a limiting factor in its synthesis (see reference 1 / reference 2).

It is also a component of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5).

To date, there is no claims referenced at the level of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Thus, the current regulations do not authorize us to communicate on the benefits relating to β-Alanine.

In 2015, the International Society of Sports Nutrition is positioned on β-Alanine. Here are their findings:

➪ 4 weeks of beta-alanine supplementation (4-6g per day) increases muscle carnosine concentrations, thereby acting as an intracellular pH buffer.

➪ It Daily supplementation with 4-6g of beta-alanine for at least 2-4 weeks has been shown to improve exercise performance.

➪ Beta-alanine alleviates neuromuscular fatigue, particularly in the elderly .

➪ Combining beta-alanine with other single or multi-ingredient supplements may be beneficial when beta-alanine supplementation is high enough (4-6g per day) and long enough (minimum 4 weeks).

➪ Further research is needed to determine the effects of beta-alanine on strength, endurance performance beyond 25 minutes, and other health benefits associated with carnosine.

β-Alanine is found in foods Foods high in carnosine, such as beef, pork, chicken, and fish.

β-Alanine+ is a 4+ dietary supplement designed to be taken pre-workout. The label Carnosyn® is for immediate release.

Nutrition Information

Side effects may be experienced following beta-alanine consumption:

➪ A hypotensive effect➪ Paresthesia (tingling)➪ Overconsumption can cause taurine deficiency

No drug interaction is known to date, however a hypotensive effect can be observed. It is best to seek advice from your doctor if taking medication for blood pressure.

The 2g dosage mentioned by 4+ Nutrition is not in line with the recommendations issued by Carnosyn. For maximum transparency, you can find the information by clicking here:

➪ From 3.2 to 6.4g per day on a 28 day period! They also mention taking β-Alanine continuously and not just on training days.
