Product Description

Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin essential to the body. Among other things, it contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and the immune system. It also contributes to normal psychological functions, to reduce fatigue, normal homocysteine metabolism and normal red blood cell formation .

Vitamin B12 is mainly found in animal products, in fact, supplementation may be necessary in the event of a vegetarian or vegan diet in order to meet daily needs.

Composition

A B-complex vitamin, vitamin B12, or cobalamin, is a red crystalline compound, earning it the nickname "vitamin red". The name cobalamin refers to its cobalt content, unique among vitamins.

Physiological role: Cobalamin is essential for growth, cell division, the proper functioning of all cells in the body and the balance of the system nervous. It intervenes more precisely in the synthesis of DNA and RNA, proteins, myelin (substance which forms a sheath around certain nerve fibers), in the formation of red blood cells, as well as in the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids.

In food, vitamin B12 is mainly found in animal products, including organ meats and shellfish. Some products of plant origin contain it, such as miso or spirulina, but it is not certain that their form can be absorbed by the body.

A vitamin B12 deficiency causes fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, nausea, constipation, flatulence, loss of appetite and loss of weight. It can also cause neurological symptoms: tingling and numbness in the limbs, difficulty walking, mood disorders, memory loss and dementia.

VITAMIN B12 PLATINUM is a food supplement of highly dosed and perfectly absorbable vitamin B12 in synergy with the best absorbable form of folic acid.

With VITAMIN B12 PLATINUM from Mannavital, there is now a sublingual tablet (preferably melted under the tongue) with no less than 1000 µg of the highly absorbable and effective form of vitamin B12: methylcobalamin.

Since vitamin B12 acts in many areas in synergy with folic acid, VITAMIN B12 PLATINUM also contains folic acid, and this, once again, in the best absorbable form (salt of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate glucosamine) of the reference brand Quatrefolic®.

Both vitamins are obtained by fermentation. It is also worth pointing out that this tablet is sugar-free (but with the natural sugar alcohols erythritol and xylitol) and contains natural flavor and natural coloring.

VITAMIN B12 deficiency caused by a vegan or vegetarian diet: It may take several years for a serious vitamin B12 deficiency to appear due to such a lifestyle (because that vegetarians ingest a lot of folic acid, which performs many parallel functions), but sometimes there can already be serious neurological symptoms.

In particular, if strict vegans and vegetarians do not produce enough vitamin B12 from their intestinal flora (which is generally the case), do not supplement with vitamin B12, or have a weak function of stomach (see below), then a vitamin B12 deficiency is almost inevitable.

With two tablets, it is generally sufficient, thanks to its high dosage and its form (sublingual tablet) to fill a gap (possibly at 2 tablets/day)

VITAMIN B12 deficiency due to weak stomach function, gastric diseases, after stomach surgery and “stomach reduction”: For optimal absorption in the intestine, vitamin B12 is normally bound in the stomach to "intrinsic factor". However, in case of gastric diseases or after stomach operations, this mechanism is strongly deficient, or even absent.

VITAMIN B12 Mannavital is usually sufficient to fill a vitamin B12 deficiency in these cases. Thanks to the high dosage of 1000 mcg of vitamin B12 per tablet, enough vitamin B12 can be absorbed by "passive diffusion" through the oral mucosa or further into the intestine.

PERNICIOUS ANEMIA or ANEMIA CAUSED BY VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY and MEGALOBLASTIC ANEMIA CAUSED BY FOLIC ACID DEFICIENCY: Possibly caused by the aforementioned vegan lifestyle or due to disorders gastric infections, "pernicious anemia" can occur due to vitamin B12 deficiency, as vitamin B12 is (along with folic acid) essential for proper cell division of red blood cell stem cells.

VITAMIN B12 Mannavital is an ideal food supplement to prevent or deal with pernicious anemia. Also in case of megaloblastic anemia due to folic acid deficiency, VITAMIN B12 (preferably 2 tablets/day) can be used: the easily absorbable and directly active form of folic acid (glucosamine salt of 5 methyltetrahydrofolate) will initially perform the main effect, but the synergy with vitamin B12 for optimal production of red blood cells is certainly welcome.
